Two credit lines and direct EBRD lending

Two credit lines are currently in operation. They both are part of EBRD's Sustainable Energy Initiative (SEI) addressing the challenges of climate change and energy efficiency.

  • Western Balkans Sustainable Energy Financing Facility (WeBSEFF II, please click here for further information). This facility consists of a 75 million credit line. The credit lines will be extended to local financial institutions for on-lending to smaller scale energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. This finance is accessible by both public and private sector borrowers. Please follow the link to find out more about WEBSEFF on its website.
  • Western Balkans Direct Sustainable Energy Financing Facility (WeBSEDFF, please click here for further information). Given high demand, an additional 50 million was allocated by the EBRD to replenish WeBSEDFF funding in 2012. This is invested in both medium-scale renewable energy and energy efficiency improvements in industrial enterprises. Furthermore, the facility intends to provide financing to ESCO projects.

For both credit lines, the WBIF provides grant funding for technical assistance and investment incentives. Please klick on the links in the text to find out more.

The EBRD offers a wide range of financial instruments and takes a flexible approach in structuring its financial products. The principal forms of direct financing that the EBRD may offer are loans, equity and guarantees. Please click here for further information.
